2. The Gatlinburg SkyLift reaches 1,800 feet high.
The SkyLift takes you up 1,800 feet over Gatlinburg. Once you reach the top of Crockett Mountain, you’ll step off the chair lift and onto the SkyDeck, where you’ll have incredible views of the Smoky Mountains. At the SkyCenter, you can grab a drink and a snack after you look through the SkyCenter. Don’t forget to walk across the SkyBridge!
3. The SkyLift is one of the oldest attractions in Gatlinburg.
The SkyLift has been around since the early 1950s when Rel Maples, an innkeeper, contacted Everett Kircher to build a chairlift in Gatlinburg. Ever since, it has been one of the most popular things to do in the area. At the time, it was the first chairlift in the area, making it one of the best ways to see Gatlinburg. By its 3rd season, over 10,000 people had taken a ride on the SkyLift. And since then, millions have seen Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains from the lift!
4. It’s one of the best attractions to visit to see seasonal views of the Smoky Mountains.
The SkyLift is a great attraction for any time of year. The green mountain range in the spring and summer is stunning. There’s nothing like seeing the views in the fall with the incredible reds, oranges, and yellows. In winter, you’ll love seeing everything covered in snow.
