The spring season is an excellent time to visit Gatlinburg. The weather is warming up for fun outdoor activities, wildflowers are blooming, and area attractions put on exciting events for the whole family. We can help you put together a great itinerary for a memorable trip. Just keep reading for some of the best things to do in Gatlinburg in the spring:
1. Sunrise Easter Events

If you’re in Gatlinburg and looking for Easter events, you should attend the Sunrise Services at Ober Mountain or Gatlinburg SkyPark. Both events are free to attend and offer a delicious breakfast after the service for a great price. You’ll also get to admire the sunrise views of the Smokies: your choice of whether it’s atop Crockett Mountain at the SkyPark or Mount Harrison at Ober!
2. The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage
Gatlinburg is located at the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, known for having an abundance of wildflowers. In April, during the peak spring wildflower season, visitors can take part in the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage. Enjoy the fresh air and scenery as you take part in over 150 guided programs. Choose from expert-led hikes, photography tours, and more! Be sure to plan ahead and register for these events early, as spots can fill up quickly.
Things to Remember: While the flowers are pretty to look at, picking them is prohibited. They only bloom for a short time, and all visitors should see them in their full glory.
3. Zipling & Off-Roading

If you’re a thrill seeker, Gatlinburg has lots of places for ziplining. We recommend the Cloud Catcher at Ober Mountain. Take the Sky Village Express to the Observation Deck. It is located at the summit of Mount Harrison at 300 feet off the ground. This is the highest elevation zipline launch in the Smokies. The zipline itself is 3,200 feet long. Feel like a bird as you zoom through the trees. Keep in mind that this zipline is an add-on experience and not included in Ober Mountain’s general admission ticket!
Another place to zipline in Gatlinburg is CLIMB Works. This experience begins with a 1.5-mile UTV ride to the starting point. It will give you a taste of the beautiful scenery the Smokies have to offer. Have races with friends and family on the dual ziplines. You can also walk across the suspension bridges.
4. Mountain Laurel Days
Another one of the great things to do in Gatlinburg in the spring is the Mountain Laurel Days at Gatlinburg SkyPark. This is a celebration of the popular flower native to the Smokies, which ranges in colors from bright white to a deep rose pink! You can enjoy these beautiful blooms as you walk along the SkyPark’s hiking trails. They have flat terrain and are short in distance, which makes them ideal for everyone; plus, you can bring your dog!
The SkyPark also has live music, face painting, balloon art, and other exciting activities starting in the spring, making this attraction one of the best places to bring your family!
