As part of their 2026 remodel, Ober Mountain has changed its name back to Ober Gatlinburg. The attraction still has all the nostalgic activities that visitors know and love, such as the scenic chairlift, indoor ice skating rink, and of course, the Gatlinburg Tram. Ober Tram Updates
The Gatlinburg tram is one of the most popular activities at Ober Gatlinburg. Visitors love being up in the sky to admire the mountain views. The improvements ensure that it will stay in tip-top shape for years to come. The team has serviced the haul, which is what the tram travels on. They have also done maintenance on another important part of the tram called the slack carriers. This element has a lot of parts that ensure the tram runs smoothly.

Upgraded Summer Tubing Hill
Tubing is a great activity for thrill seekers of all ages, and it’s not limited to snow tubing in the winter! Ober has now added an upgraded Summer Tubing Hill with three lanes. Take the Magic Carpet lift to the top and choose a way down. Each line has its own unique thrills, so there is no wrong choice! Try all three or go with your favorite one all day long. Visitors get unlimited rides down the Summer Tubing Hill all day with the purchase of an Ober Adventure Pass, the best deal for families!
Brand-New Archery and Disc Golf
During the warmer months, test your aim on Ober Gatlinburg’s archery course! If you've never used a bow before, don't worry! The activity is instructor-led, and they will teach you the basics. Both traditional bows and compound bows are available. See if you can be the first person in your travel group to hit a bullseye! Note: Must be at least 8 years old to participate.
Another new activity at Ober Gatlinburg is the disc golf course. You’ll take the scenic chair lift up to the mountain, where you’ll find 7 holes of disc golf that follow the winter ski trails on top of the mountain. Each one is situated differently, which makes for a fun challenge. See if you can score on the first try. Discs are provided, so there is no need to bring any equipment.
Sidewalk Cafe Rebrand and Remodel
After all these fun activities, you’ll need a bite to eat! Ober’s Sidewalk Cafe got a complete makeover and is now a dual location for Alpine Slice and a brand-new concept, Smokey’s Grill, with combined menus and a streamlined ordering process! At this shared space, you can enjoy pizza at Alpine Slice or smash burgers, crispy chicken tenders, and other delicious options at Smokey’s Grill.
