Winterfest in Gatlinburg is an annual event that visitors love; you must come and experience it for yourself at least once, so you can see your favorite attractions decked out in holiday cheer! One of our favorite attractions during the holiday season is the Gatlinburg SkyPark. Here’s why you should visit this mountaintop adventure park during Winterfest:
1. Stunning Holiday Decorations

As part of Winterfest, the Gatlinburg SkyPark puts on the Lights Over Gatlinburg event. All the decorations can be best seen at night. There are thousands of dazzling lights to admire. Some span across the length of the whole SkyBridge, while the others shine on two huge Christmas trees. Bring your camera to snap some memorable photos with your loved ones. They will look great on the front of your next holiday card. Kids can even see Santa on select dates. If you come at night, be sure to bundle up; the fire pits will also help you stay warm while you’re having fun!
2. Delicious Food
When all the fun works up an appetite, you don't have to go far to find good food. Come to Smoky Mountain Smash at Clayton's Landing. The restaurant specializes in making delicious handcrafted smash burgers. A great option is The Moonshiner. It is a fresh beef and sausage patty with onions, arugula, and cheddar cheese. Everything is topped with Smoky Mountain Smash’s house-made Old Smoky Moonshine BBQ sauce. Any burger will go great with a side of fries! As for dessert, satisfy your sweet tooth with a chocolate chip cookie, apple pie log, brownie, or ice cream sundae!
If you want a refreshing drink, Clayton's Landing is also home to Smoky Mountain SIPS. This is a bar that is great for all ages. Adult guests can enjoy locally crafted beers as well as classic favorites. There are also non-alcoholic drinks, as well as specialty drinks like hot chocolate during the colder months, so you can sip while you relax by the firepits, perfect for those chilly winter days!
3. Picturesque Mountain Views
If you come to the Gatlinburg SkyPark on a winter day, you’ll love all of the unique ways to admire the views of downtown Gatlinburg and the surrounding mountains. Look out to see the blanket of white snow covering the mountain peaks as you walk across the Gatlinburg SkyBridge, which is 1,800 feet above sea level and stretches almost 700 feet across a deep valley in a single span.

Get a close-up look at the scenery when you explore the SkyPark’s 1.5 miles of hiking trails, and climb the Tulip Tower for another perspective high above the treetops. If you want a place to sit and relax after all those adventures, there are seating areas on either end of the SkyBridge where you can sit in the lounge chairs and breathe in the fresh air.
